[AFL-Preview] 2009 AFL Grand Final Preview

AFL FINALS 2009

THE GRAND FINAL

Last Week: 2 from 2. To date: 7 from 8

Well tipsters and all AFL fans, it has come down to this - the best two teams in the competition playing off as expected, as predicted, as it should be. St Kilda and Geelong played an absolute cracker of a game in round 14 this year and football lovers across the world are salivating at the thought of a repeat performance in the Grand Final. The St Kilda versus Bulldogs game was similar in intensity and was a great game of footy during which the umpiring left a lot to be desired. As a matter of fact the umpiring in both prelims was questionable and the final three umpires selected for the big game is a bit of a reflection on those efforts. The weather forecast is for rain, hail, wind and bloody cold. Wish I was there!!

St Kilda V Geelong MCG on that last Saturday in September

This is going to be a tough game from which to pick a winner. Both teams are highly skilled and equally desperate. No changes to the Geelong team. One change to the St Kilda team. I will stick with my prediction from some weeks ago – Geelong. No reason and I am not going to list a whole lot of scientific junk, useless statistics, player behaviour and coaching philosophies to justify the selection. It’s Geelong – learn to live with it.

Geelong by 11

Ablett won the Brownlow last Monday night I watched,

Fev just did his usual, reputation blotched,

Juddy’s bird was gorgeous, good enough to eat,

While other ladies dresses ‘barely’ stayed on – what a feat!

Demetriou got the giggles, stuffed up someone’s name

But Ablett won it early. Excitement gone! A shame!

Cooney kissed him on the head, we all clapped, were glad

That Gary junior finally did something better than his dad!

But it all comes to nought this Saturday, grand final day is here

Fanatics, fans and members flock to the ‘G’ to cheer.

Don’t care ‘bout the weather, may it blow and hail and rain

As Saints and Cats will fight it out with excruciating pain.

The crowd will gasp, the crowd will roar, some will even cry

Hoping that their beloved team will hold the trophy high.

Grand Final day in Melbourne, whole state is in a high

Hope one day I get there before I bloody die!!

Hope to write for you all next season. Cheers!
