[AFL-Preview] Round 7

2008 FOOTY TIPPING
AFL PREVIEW – ROUND 7

Preview tipping: 37 from 48 = 77.1%

I suppose I should be waxing on about how good my
tips were last week and if it wasn't for Sydney
having 19 men on the field my score would have
been a genuine 8. It is a little disconcerting
that the tipping seems to be pretty easy so far
although having said that I'm still 67854th in
the AFL tipping from 120,000. However I am 2122nd
from 25654 in the newspaper competition and
that's pretty good. How are you all travelling in
your comps so far? We have a respite after this
round when the dream team from the big V takes on
a mixture of players from all other states.
Boring? Dunno, let's see how serious the players are.

Yesterday I buried a mate who was a captain coach
of one of the teams I played for 30 years ago and
it was pretty sad but we sent him out with style.
Hope he inspires me enough to pick some winners
this weekend. It's late, I'm tired, so the
preview will be short and to the point this week! (Hurrah say the readers.)

West Coast V Carlton at Subiaco Friday Night

Well the press in the west have centered their
articles around whether the West Coast supporters
will boo Judd or not. Well they're not going to
be able to hold a chardonnay in one hand and clap
him are they? As much as I dislike Carlton I'm
finding it hard to find a case for the Eagles who
are down on form, down on players and like a
stricken ship on the open seas are really
judderless!!! There are great expectations of the
Eagles to improve and they will by going down by
less than 10 goals for a change.

Geelong V Brisbane Lions at Skilled Stadium Saturday arvo

The Lions will fight tenaciously but to no avail.
This is not the game the Cats will lose this
season – they came mighty close last week though tipsters.

Geelong by 41

Hawthorn V Collingwood at MCG Saturday arvo

This is one of the tougher games to pick this
week as both the Pies and the Hawks were pretty
impressive last week. It's a possibility that
these two teams may finish in the top 4 this
season so you can expect a great game and if
there is a bit of rain I would be inclined to go
for Collingwood. Darn it I will.

Richmond V St Kilda at the Telstra Dome Saturday night

Here's another tough game to pick based on last
week's form. Tigers are playing reasonably well
while the Saints are continuing their patchy form
from last season after winning the nab cup. I'm
gonna have to stick with the better team in this
instance but it won't be a walk over.

Adelaide V North Melbourne at AAMI Saturday night

Tipsters, the challenges are coming thick and
fast as this is another tough one to pick. North
don't seem to worry a lot about playing AAMI
stadium but their fade out against the Swans in
the latter part of the last quarter resulting in
another draw so far this season is a worry. The
Crows took a while to overcome the Blues last
week as well and the final margin flattered them.
It's Adelaide for me but only on the basis that
the game is at AAMI but another draw wouldn't surprise.

Adelaide Crows by 8

Sydney V Western Bulldogs at the SCG Sunday

Might have to opt for another draw as you would
have to think that the game is going to be close.
The Swans can usually shut down high scoring
teams like the Bulldogs and picking the winner in
this game is going to be difficult. Luck has held
so far this season and it's time the Doggies lost a game, or drew another.

Swans by 6

Melbourne V Fremantle at MCG Sunday

What a great game the Dockers played last week
against the Cats, a game they should have won
considering the lead they had. If they could play
like that every week they would be in the top 4.
It's almost enough to knock the stuffing out of
them in preparation for this game against the
lowly Melbourne. Oops, lowly Freo as well who
have only 1 win to Melbourne's none. It's time
for the Demons to start their 150th anniversary
celebrations don't you think? Yep. This will
herald a dark day in the West because a Melbourne
win and an Eagles loss will see West Coast last
and Fremantle not much better. The local papers will have a great week.

Essendon V Port Adelaide at Telstra Dome Sunday Arvo

A 74 point loss to Collingwood last week doesn't
bode well for this game against the Power. This
result may even be worse for the Bombers as Port kick the sweep.
